Collaborative, Compassionate, Courageous
Performing Arts
SHINE Academies deliver inclusive, outstanding Dance, Drama and Music lessons with the aim of engaging and inspiring the lives of our children through enrichment activities. The Performing Arts offer a whole host of benefits for children’s health and development; from building confidence, encouraging creative expression, teaching valuable and transferable life skills to the positive impact on mental and physical health.
Across the Trust, children have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument. We offer Bass Guitar, Cello, Clarinet, Drum Kit, Fife, Flute, Recorder, Tenor Horn, Trumpet, Ukulele and Violin lessons with specialist teachers and environments created within school to allow the children to learn. Once children have progressed to the required standard, they have the option of taking the ABRSM or Trinity College London graded examinations.
Children have the opportunity to engage in all aspects of performance - from behind the scenes to front of stage in annual performances that include the EYFS Nativity and the Year Six Production. SHINE Academies encourages the use of these experiences through regular class assemblies, dance workshops, singing assemblies, visits to theatres and concerts at local community churches, allowing our parents and families the chance to be able to see the hard work their children engage in.
SHINE Academies is fortunate enough to have staff across all of the schools who are musically talented and make up our Staff Band who play live at as many of our performances as possible: it is a unique opportunity for our children to perform with live music.
All in all, here at SHINE Academies, we recognise and encourage the true value of Performing Arts - in and out of the classroom.
